AMR Open Studios Tour Kick-Off at Roxbury Abbey

53266 State Highway 30

Roxbury, NY 12474

Following in the successful footsteps of the 2022 Open Studios Tour, the Kick-Off Party is quickly becoming a tradition as the official signal to the start of the Tour. It is important to note that there is a new location for this event, just a hop, skip and a jump from the original location. As many of you know, Liberal Arts Roxbury transitioned into a much needed store called the Good Grocer, earlier this summer. Feel free to visit the Good Grocer at the previous Liberal Arts Roxbury space should you need groceries, but the Kick-Off Party itself is happening at the repurposed church on the hill at the beginning of town: The Roxbury Abbey.

Roxbury Abbey was consecrated as Our Lady of Good Counsel Mission Church in 1925 and served parishioners until its closure by the Albany Diocese in 2011. Soon after, the abbey became the studio of artist and educator Brian Tolle, creator of the Irish Hunger Memorial in Battery Park City, New York.

Our hosts, Kevin Moore of Liberal Arts Roxbury and Brian Tolle, are graciously opening the Abbey to the public for a meet and greet and all around amazing networking opportunity for artists and the community. This is also the perfect time to take in the solo exhibition presented by Liberal Arts Roxbury of work by Bonnie Levinson: Metanoia, featuring recent abstract paintings.

Drinks and and small bites will be served. The event is free and open to the general public.
