“Art has surrounded me since childhood: sitting in my parents’ art studio watching them work, visiting my mom in her public school art room where she taught, going to art museums and galleries, and growing up in “The Artist Colony” in Oakdale, L.I. My family members were all art teachers: mother, father, sister, brother-in-law, and husband. I taught art at the middle school level for 33 years.”
“Stamford has been my part-time residence forever. My grandmother, Barbara Bomhoff owned The Greenhurst, in town. My mother, June Lanigan, grew up in Stamford and my parents bought Cold Comfort Farm in 1960, when I was eight. My late husband built our home there and I spend as much time as possible in the country. I have two children, Travis, a design/ mechanical engineer, and Mackenzie, a teacher in Denver. I am now retired and between house projects, upstate and downstate, I try to create.”
“Animals are my passion. So, I tend to select them as my subject, in whatever medium suits my fancy, at any particular time.”
