“For forty years I taught mathematics and education at Brooklyn College.  Since retiring and moving to the Catskills, I have returned to my early love for visual design and ceramics.  My professional interests in mathematics (especially geometry) and in teaching (especially problem-solving) have had an impact on my work.  My ceramics are hand-built with an emphasis on surface texture, often with patterns influenced by my travels.”

RosWPottery1_325pxWelchman is a member of the Longyear Gallery where she exhibits both ceramics and watercolor paintings. She is a member of the local Plein Air group and exhibits paintings with them. Ros has regularly contributed both ceramics and paintings to fund-raisers for the Roxbury Arts Group and other local non-profit organizations.  She has taught ceramics workshops both through a DEC grant to Longyear Gallery, and for DelARC customers through the Artisans Guild in Margaretville.

Driving Directions:
From Margaretville, drive north on Route 30 for about 5 miles. Shortly after passing the Round Barn on your right, you take a left turn onto Halcottsville Road. My house is the second one on the right directly on Halcottsville road.

From Roxbury, drive south on Route 30 for about 8.5 miles. Look for a sign to Halcottsville, and make a right, driving along the side of the lake. Go through the hamlet. My house is the second to last on left.

The studio is upstairs in a small reddish barn behind the house. Please park on the left side of the building or on the street.
