About the artist

Aldo was born in 1962 in Las Villas, Cuba, and grew up in Union City, NJ. He currently splits his time between New York City and the Catskills. During high school, he attended a Vocational School for Photography and later the School of Visual Arts in New York City, majoring in Fine Art Photography. Faced with the challenges of the artist's life, Aldo joined the US Air Force and began a new career, putting his passion for photography on hold. Forty years later, Aldo has rekindled his passion for cityscapes and street photography. New York City remains his favorite place to capture street scenes. Explore his collection of his street photography from around the world. Aldo’s work, at its core, is about connection and finding unexpected beauty, insisting on being seen. Across crowded sidewalks and architectural grids, small gestures, a glance, a pause, a shared moment, briefly transform anonymity into recognition, turning strangers into friends for an instant. The work acknowledges the city as both structure and theater, chaos and refuge, revealing how brief moments of grace insist on being seen within the larger urban machine. A reminder that even in chaos, we can create our own heaven.
