About the artist

"I danced professionally in The Netherlands for many years, while always having my sewing machine and bolts of fabric standing by waiting for my attention. While living in Amsterdam, I became immersed in the city’s culture – I found myself drawn to the historic architecture, canal houses, narrow cobbled streets, misty bicycle rides, elegant vintage textiles, classical music and the majestic Concertgebouw, with its tight rows of bright vermilion seating.

Upon my return to New York City, invigorated by my time abroad, I started working with pieces of leather and fabric and created sculptural, one-of-a-kind, handbags which were soon featured at Bloomingdale’s - with two of my designs later selling to Donna Karen.

Then, accepting an invitation to visit India I was immediately dazzled by the spectacular beauty I found there, filled with fascinating contrasts. I took great pleasure seeing how color combinations were uniquely explored with a wide variety of textiles and combined with such exquisite originality and superb craftsmanship, embodying both rich tradition and contemporary flare. Inspired, I began exploring ways to create individual pieces using bits of 18k gold, pure silk, lustrous pearls, multi-faceted gemstones and embellished antique coins. Eventually, I created a jewelry line that included many of these pieces that was featured at ABC Carpet and Home, Calypso St. Barth, and various other retail stores.

Within the walls of my tiny 8’ x 16’ shop, along with my jewelry, is a curated mix of vintage and unique clothing, accessories, various found treasures, antique prints and home decor. It brings me great joy to collect and share with others the things that I find beautiful."
