About the artist

My husband, David Leveson , and I purchased the property of Painters J Francis Murphy and Adah Murphy in 1977. They were the founders of The Pakatakan Art colony, the first art colony in the Catskills. I have been painting and exhibiting in this area since that date. My preferred medium is oil paints though I have also worked extensively in pastel. Capturing the light and landscape of the Catskills through plein aire painting has been my primary focus though I often rework outdoor studies in the studio in order to emphasize my feeling for the site. Together with Helene K Manzo and her husband Frank Manzo we founded the Longyear Gallery located in Margaretville,, Delaware County. My most recent solo show was held there in the summer of 2025. As well as being members of the Longyear Gallery , Helene and I were founding members of the Blue Mountain Gallery now located in SoHo, New York City. I have participated regularly in AMR open studios show since its inception. I moved to Halcottsville where my studio is located after my husband , David , Geologist And Photographer died ,as I could no longer keep up my Arkville property . In Hallcottsville I found a compatible group of artists whom I hope you will have the chance to visit on this tour.
