"Behind the lens, all my problems dissolve. I look for stories in the changing light, preferring natural light for the honesty and energy that lives just beneath the surface of shadows and highlights. My camera goes everywhere with me, which is why I often capture serendipitous images while running errands or getting in my 10,000 steps."
Rebecca’s love for photography began in a high school darkroom, with a hand-me-down Minolta 35mm film SLR camera. Now a proponent of mirrorless technology and the digital darkroom, she uses her camera not just as an expression, but also a tool to make a living in the Catskills of Upstate New York. As a writer and former reporter, she has developed a passion for photo journalism and telling the stories of these mountains and the people that live here.
Rebecca also uses her lens and pen to combine photography with poetry. One often inspires the other, and her photos woven with poetry have been featured during “In Bloom” at the Commons Gallery in Margaretville, NY and as an AMR Artist during the Open Studios Tour and Artists Choose Artists. She has exhibited at the Catskill Watershed Corporation and also on the walls of the former Orphic Gallery in Roxbury, NY, as well as for the Roxbury Arts Group and with the Cooperstown Art Association. She is a featured artist in the blog "Art In The Catskills" and assisted in curating the 1st Annual AMR Exhibition at Galli Curci Theatre in 2022. Currently, Rebecca serves on the AMR grant writing team and is the new Tour Director for AMR Artists Inc.
