At the end of July, 45 local artists and galleries will open their doors to the public. Meet the painters, sculptors, printmakers, photographers and mixed media artists that live and work in Andes, Arkville, Bovina, Denver - Vega, Fleischmanns, Halcottsville, Margaretville, and Roxbury. The Open Studios Tour will continue to span three days: Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Friday was a successful addition to the Open Studios Tour starting in 2023. Artists found themselves putting the final touches on their studios while still being able to host visitors, sell work and demonstrate in real time all the work that goes into opening our studios. Free, Self-Guided Tour of 45+ Artists Across 8 Delaware County Towns
Kick-Off Party: Thursday, July 24 | 5–7 PM | 1053 Gallery, Fleischmanns, NY
Eastern Delaware County, NY – The 2025 AMR Open Studios Tour invites you to a vibrant, art-filled weekend in the Western Catskills, where over 45 local artists and galleries will open their doors from July 25 to 27, 11 AM to 5 PM daily. This free, self-driving tour offers visitors the unique opportunity to meet artists where they live and work—inspiring studios nestled across eight towns: Andes, Arkville, Bovina, Denver, Fleischmanns, Halcottsville, Margaretville, and Roxbury.
Kick-Off Party at 1053 Gallery: Celebrate the Weekend Ahead
The Open Studios Tour begins with the Kick-Off Party on Thursday, July 24 from 5–7 PM at 1053 Gallery in Fleischmanns, a sponsor of the tour. This free, community gathering brings together AMR artists, supporters, and the public for an evening of art and connection.
Highlights of the Kick-Off include:
- The Delaware County School of Performing Arts Summer Theater Workshop will present a video of behind the scenes footage of young students performing songs from their original musical score “TimeStruck”. The world premiere of the musical will take place Friday, August 1 at 2pm at Margaretville Central School.
- On display will be “Guided By Voices,” a group exhibition curated by Lindsay Comstock and Monte Wilson, exploring the spiritual dimensions of creativity through the lens of seven artists working in various mediums.
Supporting the Next Generation of Artists
Continuing its commitment to arts education and mentorship, the AMR Tour will once again feature a Student Showcase, a beloved addition since 2023. This year, photography students from Margaretville Central School, led by their inspiring teacher Michele Dietz, present work around the theme “Vintage Catskills Charm.” Their pieces will be professionally exhibited at Longyear Gallery in Margaretville throughout the Open Studios weekend and the entire month of July.
The evolution from student participant to participating artist comes full circle with Ivory Biruk, one of ten new artists on the 2025 Open Studios Tour. A former Student Showcase participant and now a sophomore at SUNY Purchase, Ivory studies printmaking, sculpture, and painting. Regarding her desire to join the tour, she says:
“I especially love the idea of showing artists specifically from this area, because sometimes it feels we can’t put ourselves out there since these are such small towns. I feel like a lot of people think you have to move to the city to have a successful art career, but I hope to show you can do art anywhere and still be successful.”
Her story highlights AMR Artists Inc.’s mission: building community and visibility for both emerging and established artists in our region.
Founded in 2012, AMR Artists Inc.—named for Andes, Margaretville, and Roxbury—is a nonprofit organization working to position Eastern Delaware County as a dynamic destination for contemporary art and fine crafts. Through partnerships with local businesses, galleries, and nonprofits, AMR supplements the cultural life of the region and offers opportunities for artists to thrive.
The AMR Open Studios Tour is free and open to all, made possible in part by the A. Lindsay & Olive B. O’Connor Foundation and generous local business sponsors including 1053 Gallery, Longyear Gallery, Upstate Dispatch, and Villa Sposa.

What makes the AMR Open Studios Tour a unique experience for both artists and visitors?
- AMR OST is one of the longest running open studio events in the Hudson Valley/Catskills region, and the only open studios event that has the destinction of serving the small hamlets and villages of Eastern Delaware County, NY. The tour boasts established artists and art educators behind the scenes as well as on the tour. Emerging artists, including local school students, round out this esteemed group of creatives, bringing variety and inclusivity to the art community.
- AMR is also deeply entrenched in the 8 local DelCo NY communities it serves. It is a well-loved event that has taken place at the end of July since 2012. Many local businesses and galleries support this special weekend through sponsorships and distribution of physical maps. The OST would never have reached its level of success without the helping hand of local entrepreneurs. AMR personally connects artists to businesses through their sponsorship program.
- AMR’s geographical location only covers a 299 square mile area. Though the number of participating artists varies each year, with an average of 25 to 30 map locations, which include individual studios, shared studios and galleries, makes it possible to be able to complete the tour by car over the three day weekend.
- Every single AMR Artist, since the new website’s launch in 2023, has their own webpage complete with contact info, an about section and a custom designed portfolio lightbox. The page stays live and listed for a 12 month period, and even if an artist is not on the tour the following year, their webpage remains live and accessible through their direct link. For many artists, this is their only professional web presence, outside of social media.
- AMR’s print brochure/map is of itself a work of art. A very useful one, as cell service often fails us in this part of the Catskills and visitors would be literally lost without it.
In 2024, the event surged to feature 60 participating artists and galleries, boasting a total visit tally of 3,463 — well beyond our initial expectations, but also a stretch for our resources. While we are thrilled with this growth, we've learned that focusing on individual artist studios and allowing visitors the time to fully experience each one is key. In 2025, we plan to fine-tune the event, making it more efficient and impactful for both the artists and the community. So this year the Open Studios Tour will be limited to 45 artists.
AMR Artists Inc., a non-profit organization, plays a vital role in connecting local emerging artists with established professionals. AMR stands for Andes, Roxbury and Margaretville, the three original towns involved in the Open Studios Tour when it first began in 2012. Dedicated to creating a welcoming environment for artists and art enthusiasts, AMR works to bridge the gap between the Hudson Valley and the Western Catskills, positioning Eastern Delaware County as a dynamic regional hub for visual arts and fine crafts. Their programs actively integrate talented local artists with Main Street businesses, galleries, the community, and tourists.
