About the artist

Amy Masters is a painter and printmaker who lives and works in Arkville, NY where she shares a studio with her husband, artist and architect, Ted Sheridan.  Her visual work often references natural surroundings both inside and out and have been an ongoing source of inspiration. As an artist she has exhibited widely, including New York City, Los Angeles, Maineand upstate New York. She is a founding member of the group, ADHOC projects. She was an artist in residence and a board member of the Heliker-Lahotan Foundation on Great Cranberry Island, Maine. In 2021 she helped create the 1053 Main Street Gallery in Fleischmanns, NY where she was the director and curator before stepping down in 2023.

She was recently awarded an individual artist grant through the Delaware County Arts Grant which allowed her to create a new body of work titled,‘Family Portraits’. This work was exhibited at ArtUp in Margaretville, NY in January.

"I look closely at my surroundings and so nature and my immediate

environment informs my work but is not always directly represented.

Sometimes it is a memory or a moment that I try and relate through color or

line or both. I like to pay attention to how edges and color meet up against

one another and what that dynamic brings to the experience of both looking at the work and creating it."

Directions

Take Dry Brook Road off RTE 28 in Arkville, then first right turn onto Chris Long Road. Look for 222 / 224 blue address placards on the right. Park at base of driveway or on Chris Long Road and walk up to the studio around the back of the house. There are signs pointing the way.
